Starlight Organization Supports Girls Education

Starlight Organization is implementing a program aimed at empowering girls in education in order to ensure high enrollment and retention.

This is in realization that without the necessary resources, many girls face obstacles that prevent them from succeeding in their educational pursuits.

Through the program, Starlight Organization is providing essential school necessities, mentorship and motivation session’s directly to girls in need, with an aim of addressing some of the barriers that hinders them at school.

Starlight  Organisation Field Officer. Gloria Mtuwa visited Mpapa Primary School in Blantyre, T/A Somba, where she distributed school materials to girls who urgently needed exercise books and writing materials.

During her visit, learners highlighted some of the challenges they are facing while at school, this include: lack of school fund, insufficient educational materials, lack of school uniforms, forced marriages, lack of support from parent’s (with some parents prioritizing sending their children to sell goods in the market), instances of physical violence among learners and from boys among other issues that hinders their ability to participate in lessons effectively.

The organization recognizes that challenges persist and they’re committed to continue supporting girls.

It plans to involve community and boys in their initiatives, recognizing that neglecting boys and the community at large will leave important challenges unaddressed.

The work of Starlight Organization serves as a powerful reminder that empowering girls through education is not just a charitable act but an investment for the future.

“Together, with continued support and innovative approaches, we can build a world where girls can pursue their aspirations without barriers in creating a brighter, more equitable future for all,” Mtuwa said.
